Planned Air Force contracting center to add 200 jobs here. John Thurman of Heart of Texas Realty with today's San Antonio Business Journal News Feature. Business Journal writer, Catherine Dominguez, reported that San Antonio will soon be the home to the new US Air Force Southwest Regional Contracting Center and the facility will bring 200 new jobs, most of whom will be civilian workers, to the Alamo City. The center is part of the military's plan to consolidate its contracting and purchasing under the Air Force Materiel Command headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The Air Force Materiel Command conducts research, development, tests and evaluations and provides the acquisition management services and logixtics for the Air Force. The Southwest Regional Contracting center is one of the five cdenters that will be located across the nations. The specific location of the command has not yet been determined but locations at Randolph AFB, Brrks city Base, Port San Antonio and Ft. Sam Houston are being considered for the facility.
